Do you know a loved one experiencing the effects of early-stage memory loss?
Edmonds Center for the Arts is thrilled to announce the return of our award-winning Dementia-Inclusive Series, which provides free creative and social enrichment for individuals experiencing early-stage memory loss, their caregivers, families, and friends.
Launched in 2015, the series is a collaborative effort involving senior services organizations, eldercare and memory care professionals, and arts groups in the Puget Sound region. ECA is committed to providing a space where community members experiencing memory loss feel welcome and valued; where their creative contributions are celebrated; and where joyful quality time can be spent with care partners and loved ones.
The 2024 Dementia-Inclusive Workshop Series: A Community Journey through Art, Music & Movement, is presented by ECA in partnership with SilverKite Community Arts LLC. This series includes three free workshops scheduled from October to December 2024. The workshops will include various activities, including music-making, movement, and visual arts.

WORKSHOP STRUCTURE
Each session starts with a 10-minute artistic warm-up activity to foster connection among participants.
The workshop is then divided into two groups: one for individuals experiencing early-stage memory loss and another for caregivers and peer support navigators.
Both groups engage in a 45-minute arts learning activity, which could involve movement exploration, music-making, and/or art creation.
Two specialized SilverKite Teaching Artists lead the groups with support from ECA staff.
The workshop concludes with both groups coming together for a reflective session where they can share insights and strengthen bonds.
